Future Of Health Care Has Questions But Few Answers

1

No one except politicians seems interested in talking about the future of health care insurance but it is a nagging issue that might even decide who America has as its next president. Everyone from government officials to private interest groups have a finger in the soup that is the health care mess, but no one seems to know what to do. No one has any specific way to solve the problem that has polarized the country, but everyone realizes that changes need to be made. The questions are who is going to win the battle and who is going to suffer the consequences.

It has been difficult to get a finger on how people feel about the future of health care. President Clinton came up with a plan to offer healthcare to everyone and his opponents vilified him for it, but he also won reelection, so it is clear that he had some sort of support. President Obama has his plan in place but he is also being vilified for his support of national health care.

It is easy to criticize the politicians who are trying to make health care easy and affordable to everyone, but it is also easy to defend the system. Many people think that the proposed health care system will bankrupt the entire country and turn it into a socialized nation, but there need to be some changes made without to much of a radical departure from what has been working on some levels, but not all, for a long time.

The answers about the health care system at this point very simply are not clear and there seems to be a cover up as to what is really happening. Most experts say that the current Health Care Reform Act is the very first step that needs to be taken by the government and one that is necessary for the survival of the entire U.S. economy. Experts fail to say what changes will have to come down the road for the system in order to ensure stability throughout the system but most agree that this is only the beginning of a larger reform to come.

Even if there are definitive answers, America must prepare for the future when most of the current changes that are being made are being reanalyzed and reconsidered and the whole issue comes up again. Health care has no easy answers and America will be seeing that for a long time.

Telemedicine Plays A Vital Role In Healthcare Delivery For Oil Rig Workers

19

The warning today by the Health and Safety Executive that firms in the North Sea oil and gas industry must improve their safety records is timely.

Although it was not in the North Sea, the disaster on the Deepwater Horizon platform in the Gulf of Mexico in which 11 workers died was a stark reminder of the need for constant vigilance over rig safety. Hazards are ever present offshore and workers on even the safest offshore rigs are susceptible to injuries and high rates of respiratory and cardiovascular disease.

Remote specialist advice via videoconferencing improves the quality of offshore healthcare and reduces avoidable medical evacuations. A 50-mile medevac by helicopter can cost 5,000-10,000, so telemedicine with remote monitoring and diagnostic equipment is becoming the preferred option now that drilling rigs and oil platforms are equipped with Internet and satellite connections.

Modern collaboration technology brings the specialist to the patient without the need to be transported onshore. With the help of video consultation and integration with medical diagnosis equipment, medical specialists can conduct remote consultations using state-of-the-art video communications. This allows them to make an accurate diagnosis with the aid of the nurse or emergency medical technician based offshore.

On-the-spot diagnosis, not a replacement for healthcare professionals

Transmission of crystal-clear images and perfect sound gives the doctor the sense of being in the same room as the patient – but only just. Technology cannot transmit sensory perceptions and cannot therefore replace healthcare professionals who physically attends to the patient; however, what it can do is extend the physicians judgement to the remote location and bring doctors and other medical specialists ‘into the room’ when required.

Remote monitoring aid aboard offshore oil rigs

The relentless pursuit for high safety standards is paramount; the challenge to improve safety will be even greater as HSE decision makers are looking to create a healthier and more productive workforce. Timely access to quality patient healthcare is becoming more logistically challenging and expensive, but visual collaboration and the integration with remote medical diagnosis equipment makes sense…. it’s as simple as that!

How To Live A Healthy Lifestyle And Enjoy Life

2

Living a healthy life style naturally calls for a healthy body, free from disease and illnesses. It also means that you enjoy a positive outlook about your life, the people in it, and the world.

A healthy lifestyle is one full of energy, without constant stress about aches and pains, and what tomorrow will bring. It’s about living in a healthy body, and enjoying the world around you.

Living a healthy lifestyle is built on these foundational steps:

Staying healthy calls for a healthy diet

A diet rich in fresh, whole foods is essential in a healthy lifestyle. When available, always choose foods found in its natural state. Fruits and vegetables have high vitamin and mineral content. Whole grains like quinoa and whole wheat bread should be consumed instead of less nutritious white varieties.

Vegetables need to make up 50-60% of your total intake of food each and every day. The more vegetables you eat, the less sugar and white flour you will crave and your immune system will help you fight off illness and give you all the energy you need.

Drink plenty of water. The old suggestion of 8 glasses as day is still what you need to keep every cell in your body healthy.

Exercise keeps your heart healthy and your body agile.

Just 30 minutes a day of movement can benefit your health by improving joint stability, increase your range of movement and flexibility, help prevent osteoporosis and fractures and improve your mood while reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Exercise doesn’t necessarily mean joining a gym. It can be simple things like turning off the TV for an hour and playing outdoors with your kids or taking your dog for a walk.

If you already exercise regular, add an extra lap in the pool, walk an extra turn around the block, do one more set of reps before quitting. Small increases can make a big difference.

Chores like shoveling snow, gardening, raking leaves or vacuuming and sweeping the floor are all considered a form of exercise.

Emotional Health makes all the pieces come together

Your emotional health plays a big part in a healthy lifestyle. Tune into your body to learn what causes you stress. Have a healthy social life by avoiding negative people and situations. Relaxation and meditation help release negative emotions. Listen to soothing music, meditate, breathe deep to help reduce stress.

A healthy lifestyle makes life full and large

In addition to an overall good feeling, a healthy lifestyle has many benefits. A healthy lifestyle makes life worth something to you. When you’re living conscious of your diet, sleep, exercise, and the other people you share the world with, life will take on a new and profound meaning.

A naturally healthy lifestyle can lead to a longer more productive life. You’ll feel less pain, ward off diseases and have energy like you did when you were young.

The Future Of Video Conferencing And Health Care Professionals

3

A large growth area that is emerging for audio-visual systems is in health care, hospitals and medical field. More and more doctors and other health care professionals are using the interactive nature of videoconferencing to work with more patients, and saving time and travel for both patients and doctors at the same time. Additionally, videoconferencing equipment allows health care professionals to work more efficiently within their own health care systems and regional facilities and allow for faster coordination.

The videoconferencing market in health care facilities is increasing as a result of better videoconferencing equipment, lower costs and increased demand by health care professionals. This is a combination of sharper uses of technology in all aspects of our work lives, and finding better ways to create advantages.

Today, more and more health care agencies and hospitals can use video conferencing equipment and accompanying technology to overcome some hurdles in health care education, management and patient diagnoses.

As the baby boomers of our generation reach their 60s and 70s, there is expected to be a greater demand for health care and health care facilities over the next 10-30 years. And the last few years have helped our older citizens become more comfortable with new technology tools, like laser cameras, internal xrays and more. Adding video conferencing to the mix isnt as great a tech hurdle today as it may have been 5-10 years ago.

Some of the benefits of increased videoconferencing in health care is outlined by research firm Ovum, which talks about the different ways that the technology can be used. Its researcher writes:

Video conferencing solutions must be tailored to a range of different usage scenarios, ranging from disease-specific diagnosis and treatment between a care provider and patient to consultation between professionals. The equipment and networks required will also vary significantly, ranging from high-end telepresence that is reliant on a high-speed broadband connection to simple desktop and laptop services.

Ovum writes that the emotional connection in video conferencing enables physicians to see nuances in patient behavior. Not only that, but video conferencing can connect doctors in remote locations with their colleagues to share knowledge and bring about greater collaboration between physicians with different specializations. All of these benefits can occur in health care as a result of connectivity via video conferencing.

While the researchers maintain that, for patients, face-to-face communications is still a much better overall experience, having video conferencing capabilities can be the next best thing. And were inclined to agree.

Using video conferencing and other means to provide real-time visual collaboration can be a great boon to communications between doctors and patients, as well as between health care professionals.

CCS Presentation Systems is among the largest U.S. audio-visual system integration firms, and one of the leading providers of audio-video products and solutions in the nation. How To Be a Healthy Person

7

If you want to be healthy, and I assume you do, then I have four words for you. Diet, exercise, hydration, and sleep. Without all of them in good working order, you will not be any healthier than a car that has plenty of fluids, except is oil. That car will not last, just like your body will not last.

They say you are what you eat, and there is some truth to that. If you eat poorly, you will have poor health. But more than that, even if you get plenty of exercise, drink lots of water, and get adequate rest, if your diet is poor, so will be your health. A healthy diet includes all food groups in the correct proportions. Your diet should consist of roughly protein, fruits, vegetables, and carbs. This is a simpler way than the food pyramid, food plate, or whatever they use these days.

To be healthy you also need to get enough exercise. The best combination is 3 cardio days per week, and 3 weightlifting days. And not just any exercise will do. I see guys at the gym all the time lifting weights, but never getting bigger muscles, women on the treadmills, never getting thinner, and one toothpick woman who never gets stronger. The reason is that the guys never push themselves by doing heavy weight or hard lifts, the fat women never go faster than a brisk walk, and the toothpick lady never lifts more than about 5lbs. You have to make it burn and keep getting better, stronger, and faster.

Your body is made mostly of water. 70% of you is H20, so you can imagine that drinking lots of it is kind of important. It turns out that it is, and that you will be much healthier with plenty of it. Almost every chemical reaction your body goes through to keep you alive and moving takes place in or with water and it wouldn’t happen without it. Getting enough can be tough though. The best rule to follow is to take 3-4 swallows of water every time you use the bathroom and drink plenty during and after workouts.

Lastly is sleep. This is the time your body repairs itself and gets ready for another day. If you don’t get enough, you don’t repair properly and consequences will follow. Don’t drink caffeine much either, because it will cause you to feel energetic when you are not. So it you are tired all the time and feel like you need a boost, try sleeping more instead of coffee. If you do, you will be a more healthy person.
